I'm so glad Halo Wars is finally out. I can't wait to play the game and to finally show some characters I made for it. It's been over a year since I originally worked on it and feel I have learned alot since then.
It was also the last project that I used the Brazil renderer on. Most everything I have done these days is in Mental Ray. Brazil you will be missed...kinda.

In your professional opinion, what animation tools do you suggest for a beginner? I admire your work and Blur happens to be my favorite studio! :w00t:

My personal preference in descending order is:
1-XSI
2-Maya
3-Max

Blur renders in Max but animates in XSI. I model in XSI and zbrush, then render in Max. Best thing to do is download all the demos and see which one works best for you.

Halo Wars is one of the greatest, if not THE greatest RTS to grace a counsol. The Arbiter is one of the most badass villans I have ever seen.
